Week 5 Morning Yoga: Our journey is coming to an end! As genius hour comes to an end my progress is EVIDENT! I have become more mindful, flexible, energized, less stressed and have a better body image. All of these things are due to my engagement in yoga every morning. I have become more comfortable and aware of my body and what I need to be successful. Upon completion this morning, Noelle and I noticed that getting up at 6:20 was easier. It has become part of our morning routine and when we do it we are more equipped to handle the day ahead of us. However, when we do not (on the weekend) it is harder to get up and we have less energy throughout the day. Collectively, we decided that although this assignment is over and yoga is no longer a requirement we will continue to get up and do yoga. As it has had a positive impact on our overall mental and physical well-being. This assignment has taught me a lot about the importance of being mindful and aware of the body. I think that i...

Check out Yoga by Adriene: Noelle and I do one of Adriene's daily yoga routines every weekday at 6:20. Her energetic routines help us start the morning out right. We complete a different one daily, sometimes for strengthening, weight loss, or boosting our energy. Her dog also often makes an appearance, we look out for those ones - who doesn't love a little puppy therapy.

Genius Hour Blog Post #3       After a week and a half of doing my genius hour (daily morning yoga sessions) I am beginning to see significant changes in myself. I am doing my yoga practices with my roommate Noelle, because we both have class every morning at 8am we have been getting up at 6:15 to complete our morning practices. To begin with this was very challenging. We both felt tired during the session and in our first class of the day it was hard to get through, however, this week I have felt much more energized and I find it easier to get out of bed for the session. Along with this I have felt more flexible, healthy, and motivated to engage in other workout activities. I have more energy to go on walks with my roommates and be more active throughout the day.       This week I learned about the importance of physical activity and the power it can have on both my physical and mental well-being, both inside the classroom and in my own personal life. ...

Genius Hour Blog - Post #2

Hello,       It is week two and I have now decided on a genius hour topic. The topic I choose is a morning yoga routine every week day for six weeks. As I made my final decision about my genius hour topic I began to reflect on how my own mindset and goals can/will impact my thinking in the classroom and will be a positive learning experience for me. This week I learned a lot about genius hour and different websites to use that will be effective teaching tools for both me and my students. These apps will help me be more efficient and effective in the classroom.        This week I had a little bit of trouble multi-tasking. We reviewed a lot of different sites, apps, and programs that will be helpful for me in the classroom. However, I found that it was almost information overload. I think that my genius hour will help with this, it will help me focus and become a better student. As of right now I do not have any question, however, if any do arise I wi...
